The Science of Grit
Gritworks is built on a proprietary behavioral framework, structured mission training, and evidence-based resilience science. This is how the system works.
The Nine Core Patterns™
Every friction pattern in your life — at work, at home, in your relationships — maps to one of nine repeating patterns. We call them the Nine Core Patterns.
Most approaches treat symptoms. Bad communication. Anger issues. Lack of motivation. The Gritworks framework identifies the the real pattern underneath. Our missions don't address what you're doing wrong — they target why you keep doing it.
Break out of autopilot and reclaim ownership of your decisions.
Ask for what you need without losing independence.
Separate what you've been told to want from what actually matters.
Stop circling the thing you already know.
Own your part in the patterns that keep repeating.
Say no without guilt.
Close the gap between who you perform and who you are.
Get out of your head and into the moment.
Recognize manipulation — yours and theirs.
Jon B. Pease, MA spent twenty years as a therapist. The 9EB framework is what came out of that work — the patterns he kept seeing in the room, named and organized against the research behind them: cognitive behavioral science, attachment theory, motivational psychology. Those sources are listed below.
Five Programs, One Framework
Each program targets a specific life domain, but they all run on the same engine. The core patterns you carry show up differently depending on context — a performance failure at work and a blowup at home may share the same root.
Free 10-mission intro: Mission Zero teaches the pause, then nine missions — one for each Core Pattern.
Build resilience, composure, and follow-through across real-world missions.
Practical missions for parents navigating tantrums, conflict, and family stress.
Relationship-focused missions for couples who want to communicate better under pressure.
Align your values, goals, and daily actions into a life that actually fits you.
Structured missions for co-parents navigating custody, communication, and boundaries.
The Mission Engine
Every mission follows a structured slide-based sequence designed to move you from recognition to commitment to action. This isn't passive content — it's guided behavioral training.
A real-world scenario that creates instant recognition.
What happens if you keep doing what you've been doing.
The behavioral science underneath the pattern.
The recommended response — scripted, then adapted in your own words.
The research backing the intervention.
Lock in a measurable goal before moving forward.
Capture your gut reaction. AI analyzes your response.
Written reflection to process and internalize.
Each mission locks in a gut reaction before showing you the recommended response. If you get stuck for more than 70 seconds, the AI advisor activates automatically. You can't skip. You can't fake it. The system is designed to make you do the work.
18 Hours Between Missions
Gritworks is not a binge. After your first three missions, the next mission unlocks in 18 hours, and the gap is enforced — you can revisit completed missions anytime, but you cannot rush ahead. Behavioral change needs the space between learning a principle and hitting the situation where you need it.
Support System
Missions are the engine. But lasting change requires more than content — it requires accountability, feedback, and crisis support.
AI advisor embedded in every mission. Provides personalized feedback on your gut reactions, pattern analysis via Munger Mode, and in-mission coaching when you get stuck.
Credentialed resilience advisors with scheduling, notes, and secure messaging. Partner Add-On links both sides of a relationship so the advisor sees the full picture.
Periodic friction assessments that surface emerging stress patterns. Risk flags trigger crisis protocols and reprioritize missions in real time.
Per-program daily streak tracking across specific behavioral dimensions. Daily check-ins maintain momentum. Streaks unlock deeper mission tiers.
Assessment & Measurement
Every client begins with a baseline questionnaire scoring 15 behavioral dimensions — from emotional regulation and conflict resolution to follow-through and self-awareness.
Low scores surface growth areas. Growth areas map to specific core patterns. Core patterns determine which missions get highlighted. Over time, score trends are visualized so you can see exactly where you're moving and where you're stuck.
This isn't a personality quiz. It's a diagnostic instrument that shapes your entire training path.
